The Springfield Arts Commission offers youth classes taught by local artists at the Springfield Public Library. Youth Arts Workshops teach participants about puppet making, puppet-theater and performances. First Tuesday Craft Club provides instruction in watercolor, drawing, mask making, collage, pop-up cards, jewelry and holiday projects. Both the Youth Arts Workshops and First Tuesday Craft Club target upper-elementary and middle-school children.

Each spring, the Springfield Arts Commission invites students in Grades K-5 of Springfield District #19 to enter their art into the Youth Art of Springfield Show. Students who enter receive a ribbon and have their art exhibited at their school during March and April. In May, each Springfield Elementary School is invited to select student work for display at the Springfield Public Library and City Hall Gallery.
